Ethics Initiatives at SF

Overview

Initiatives in ethics help create active engagement and dialogue at the college and in the community.

Ethics Slams

Flex your moral muscles at SF’s annual Ethics Slam, a college and community event that engages students, faculty, and community members in a fun, fast-paced ethics improv competition. Teams take positions on ethical questions and present their supportive arguments to a panel of guest judges. Food, prizes, and fun for all. Check back periodically for upcoming events!

Cross-Generational Conversations

To promote cross-generational conversations about timely ethics and humanities topics, SF participates in yearly Ethics Bowl classes at Oak Hammock retirement community. These classes are offered as part of Oak Hammock’s ILR (Institute of Learning in Retirement) series and provides residents and SF students an opportunity to dialogue about some of the tough, often contentious topics presented in Ethics Bowl competition cases. These popular and engaging discussions bring to light the benefits and challenges of intergenerational dialogue. Participants agree - it’s time well spent!
