Female Plumbing Student

The TEAM Careers Program at Santa Fe College is a career, educational and mentoring support service for non-traditional students in Career and Technical Education Programs.

TEAM Careers focuses on assisting students who are preparing for a nontraditional field of work. You are a nontraditional student if you are enrolled in a program that leads to an occupation in which either women or men comprise 25 percent or less of total employment. When you choose a career based on your abilities and interests, regardless of your gender, you have the opportunity to achieve greater job satisfaction, earnings potential, and success in your field.

Who is eligible?

In addition to nontraditional students, TEAM Careers also assists the following qualifying students who are enrolled in A.S. and A.A.S. Degree Programs, or Career and Technical Certificate Programs:

  • Out-of-workforce individuals
  • Students with disabilities
  • Single parents, including single pregnant women
  • English learners
  • Homeless individuals
  • Veterans

What does TEAM Careers* provide?

  • Individual orientation sessions are offered that focus on vocational assessment and goal setting.
  • Financial assistance, in the way of textbook and calculator loans, and limited school and lab supplies
  • Information and referrals given for college and community resources, such as scholarships, tutoring services, and study help
  • Newsletter and regular communications sent each semester to students enrolled in TEAM Careers

*Funding for this program is made possible by the SF Perkins Grants Initiatives Office.
