Certificate for Online Design and Instruction

Overview

The Certificate for Online Design and Instruction (CODI) is a flexible, semester-long online training program designed to prepare instructors for the rigor of online teaching. Participants will be enrolled in a facilitated online Canvas course and will gain insights into online teaching through videos, readings, and online interactions with their peers. The program is based on Chickering and Gamson’s Seven Principles for Good Practice in Undergraduate Education. Training in Santa Fe College’s course design checklist is also included.

Modality

The majority of this program is done online in Canvas. However, participants will also watch 2 of the 20 Minute Mentor videos from Magna Publications. Directions for registering for this service can be found here.

Time Commitment

This program will take between 20 and 30 hours to complete.

Certificate for Classroom Teaching and Learning

Overview

The Certificate for Classroom Teaching and Learning (CCTL) is a five-week program designed to promote active learning, student engagement, and the sharing of effective teaching practices across disciplines. There are three basic components to the CCTL program: face-to-face sessions, the Canvas course, and an independent study. The CCTL program is all about faculty sharing and collaborating with other faculty members across campus. All members of the faculty will find the program enlightening and worthwhile, whether teaching for one semester or 20 years! The cohort community is a powerful resource that will encourage faculty and provide valuable tools for classroom learning.

CCTL is currently being reimagined. We will post information on this page when we are done with the new program.

Modality

This web-enhanced program is made up of both face-to-face and online instruction. There will be five two-hour, face-to-face meetings plus an online Canvas course to supplement instruction. An independent study component provides participants with an opportunity to delve into discipline-specific active learning strategies.

Time Commitment

The program will take 15-20 hours over six weeks to complete.

Certificate for Accessible and Inclusive Practices

Overview

Santa Fe College in partnership with Sao Paulo State University developed the Certificate for Accessible and Inclusive Practices (CAIP). This self-paced online course is designed to promote an inclusive pedagogy through the application of universal design principles. We cover important topics such as unconscious bias, the effective use of accessible multimedia, and the role of advocacy in fostering a more inclusive learning environment. As you work through the program, you will see how improving accessibility is ultimately a journey and not a destination.  Graduates of this 10 hour online course will receive a certificate of completion and special digital badge for your instructor's page. You can sign up on our Professional Development Registration page.

Modality

This program is completely done online in Canvas.

Time Commitment

This program will take approximately 10 hours to complete.
