Welcome Packet for Students

Informational packet for student hires at Santa Fe College

Thank you for your interest in working at Santa Fe College! SF is a dynamic, innovative learning environment committed to the mission of “adding value to the lives of our students and enriching our community.” Academic excellence and freedom, cultural diversity and equity, assessment, accountability, and improvement are just a few of the many principles that govern the life-long learning experiences here at Santa Fe College.

Students must maintain six (6) or more credit hours of SF coursework to be eligible for employment. Student employees are paid at least the minimum wage, however earnings may vary with the nature of the job, skill set, and the number of hours worked per week. At SF, Educational Aides and other student hires may work no more than twenty five (25) hours per week. Those employed through the College Work Study Program are permitted to work up to twenty five (25) hours per week, but generally College Work Study Students work about fifteen (15) hours per week. Students are employed on a term by term basis and paid twice a month. Please find the pay schedule for hourly staff by accessing Part-Time Employee Pay Schedule.

Your department of hire must submit the Part-time Recommendation for Employment Appointment form/Financial Aid Memorandum to Human Resources (HR) in order to initiate the hiring process with SF. You will need to attend a Student Hire Onboarding Session to finalize the hiring process.

Onboarding Process

During onboarding sessions, hires learn about important college rules, policies and procedures and complete the required hiring and payroll paperwork. Additionally, during onboarding, HR must fingerprint all hires for the purpose of conducting criminal background checks required by Santa Fe College Rule 3.22: Criminal Background Checks.

Prior to scheduling a Student Hire Onboarding Session you must thoroughly complete the Employment Application form. The Employment Application form is available Human Resources.

Student Hire Onboarding Sessions are offered on a weekly basis and conducted in the Office of Human Resources (HR) located in the Building R-Annex on the Northwest Campus. R-Annex is the building connected to the SF Food Court via the wooden walk way, in between the SF Bookstore and the Building R. Find a campus map enclosed within this Welcome Packet. To sign up for an available Student Hire Onboarding Session, you must contact Human Resources at 352-395-5185.

At your scheduled Student Hire Onboarding Session you will be required to present original, unexpired identity documentation from List of Acceptable Documents. One item from List A is acceptable or you must present one item from List B AND one item from List C.

If you wish to elect direct deposit, you will need to provide a check or formal bank documentation to confirm your name, bank account number and bank routing number.
