Fire Extinguishers

Fire extinguishers are available throughout all buildings on every SF campus. Please familiarize yourself with the locations of the fire extinguishers in your work area and how to use them.

NOTE: Extinguishing a fire is optional if you know how to use a fire extinguisher, but never compromise your safety to attempt to extinguish a fire, and remember that fire extinguishers are only to be used on incipient (small) fires. Santa Fe Police officers and SF Building Safety Ambassadors are designated and trained to use fire extinguishers. 

Holiday Decorations Policy

All holiday decorations must adhere to the following regulations:

  • Must be artificial and labeled flame retardant
  • Must not utilize open flame or heat elements
  • Must be hung at least 24" from the ceiling

All holiday lights must adhere to the following regulations:

  • Must be connected to a 3-pronged extension cord that is UL-rated and fitted with an internal circuit breaker
  • Must be in good repair with no missing bulbs, broken fixtures, frayed cords, etc.
  • Must not be hung within 24" of any flammable material

Decorations which pose a safety risk may be removed by Safety Coordinator, Facilities Services, or the SFPD.
