Overview

What is a Building Safety Ambassador? 

A Building Safety Ambassador is the primary safety representative and pre-identified point of contact within a Santa Fe College building or designated area for safety concerns.

Santa Fe College (SF) is committed to campus safety as a significant factor in a positive, productive learning environment. This commitment alone will not ensure safety without the involvement and support of the campus community. To better serve the SF community, the Building Safety Ambassador program was developed with a primary goal of safety education, awareness, and training. The program focuses on the timely dissemination of information and improved identification of safety hazards.

The Building Safety Ambassador program is based on participation by volunteers within academic departments and campus centers. In order for an employee to be a Building Safety Ambassador, the employee needs approval from his/her supervisor. Volunteers will be trained to perform as Building Safety Ambassadors. Building Safety Ambassadors will be offered, on a voluntary basis, an opportunity to increase skills through specialized training in emergency management, building inspections, recognition and reporting of hazardous conditions, and safety and first-aid as outlined in the Emergency Management Plan (EMP).
