Telework Request Procedure

Overview

  1. Discussions with staff and supervisors can be initiated by either.
  2. Preliminary discussions regarding feasibility at the department level through the highest level of supervisor and with VP to confirm support.
  3. Supervisor training must be completed prior to submission of the Telework Agreement.
    • Telework Fundamentals training is available in Canvas.
    • Please note that this training seems to work best in the Chrome browser.
    • Once logged in, at the top of the screen there should be a notice that you have been invited to this course and will first need to accept the invitation before you can access the training.
    • Once the invitation is accepted, the course will be listed on the dashboard under Published Courses.
  4. Complete pre-assessments for:
    • Technology equipment (Supervisor and Employee)
    • Connectivity (Employee with ITS Help Desk)
    • Professional work space (Supervisor and Employee)
    • Sufficient In-Office Coverage (Supervisor)
    • Impact to others, including students, colleagues, and how we do business. (Supervisor and Employee)
  5. Employee and Supervisor complete the Telework Agreement, which includes the following:
    • Establishing the work schedule.
    • Establish the duties to be performed remotely.
    • Establish expected communication.
    • Confirm technology and equipment requirements.
    • Incorporate confirmation of the ITS Help Desk assessment for positions that require internet connectivity by attaching confirmation email.
    • Create a list of supplies to be provided by the college.
    • Establish expectations for the telework site.
  6. Supervisor sends completed Telework Agreement with VP approval to HR for ELT review.
  7. HR notifies department if and when work can commence and sends copies of executed Telework Agreement. Telework may not begin until this confirmation from HR is provided.
  8. Supervisor monitors and assesses viability during trial period (note that all positions should be trial positions during 2022)
  9. HR will track start dates and set dates for evaluation and review.
  10. HR to provide evaluation metrics once developed.
