This Resource Guide connects residents to the services needed to improve health and well-being.

Alachua County Social Services

Services: Alachua Cares provides access to primary care and prescription assistance to eligible low income residents who are uninsured and unemployed. Offers emergency room prescriptions at North Florida Regional Medical Center and UF Health Shands Hospital, daily bus pass for RTS, eye exam/glasses, and animal services fee waiver.

ACORN (Alachua County Organization for Rural Needs), Inc. Medical Clinic

Services: ACORN Dental Clinic's practitioners offer a wide variety of dental procedures including Pediatric Dentistry.

Catholic Charities

Services: Emergency assistance to individuals and families in times of crisis by providing food, help with payment of utilities and rent for qualified individuals through HOP (Housing Opportunities Program). Also offers financial assistance for medications, free pregnancy counseling, and Bridges to Prosperity financial education program.

Services: Provides free, mental health care, basic medical services to deal with acute and chronic health problems, psychiatric, acupuncture, support and referrals, personal hygiene items. North Florida Regional Medical Center (Behavioral Health Center)

Services: Baker Act Receiving Facility also accepts voluntary admissions. Treats adults 18 and older for different psychiatric disorders, including but not limited to bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and depression. 33 bed facility with 10 semi-private rooms and 13 private rooms.

UF and Shands Family Medicine - Equal Access Clinic

Services: Primary Medical Clinics provide free, full-range primary and follow-up medical care among four different community sites. Specialty Clinics offer free therapy night, gynecologic care for women, physical therapy, occupational therapy, ophthalmology, diabetes education, HIV counseling and testing.

Services:  Provides mental health counseling and inpatient treatment for addiction, eating disorders, child, and adult psychiatry.

Vet Center

Services: Personal counseling with a concentration on veterans who have been in active combat. Also offer grief and bereavement counseling as well a marriage and family and couples therapy. Specialize in sexual harassment and sexual assault cases related to military service; past or present cases are welcome. Sessions are free and offered weekly by 3 licensed counselors (LMHC, MFT, and LCSW). All services are confidential. The Vet Center is a separate entity from Veterans Affairs.

Westside Samaritans Clinic

Services: Westside Samaritans Clinic is a no-fee clinic. The clinic is run by MD's and other allied healthcare providers. They offer primary care, chronic disease management, mental health and dental care.

Eligibility: Patients must meet income guidelines set by the federal government and have no other medical insurance, including Medicaid and Medicare.
