Counseling and Wellness Center Services for Faculty and Staff
Consultation
Staff members of the Counseling and Wellness Center are available to consult with faculty, staff and administrators throughout the college on issues related to the emotional and psychological well-being of individual students or other members of the campus community. We are also available to address overall issues affecting the climate of life on campus and have consulted with various campus departments, student groups, and committees. Please call 352-395-5508 if you would like to consult with a staff member.
Trauma Response
After a traumatic event (death, missing persons, major accident, natural disasters etc.), the Counseling and Wellness Center staff is available to meet with students, faculty and staff members to provide consultation, support, intervention and/or referral. Emergency Support
The Counseling and Wellness Center provides the following emergency support services for SF faculty and staff:
- Emergency walk-in consultation and crisis stabilization for students accompanied by faculty or staff.
- Phone consultations for faculty and staff related to students exhibiting troubled, disturbing, or disruptive behaviors.
- In addition to consultation with a staff member, the Counseling and Wellness Center strongly encourages faculty and staff observing concerning or threatening behavior to report through the "Say Something" reporting system.
- If you are bringing a student in distress to the Counseling and Wellness Center and are able to, please contact the Counseling and Wellness Center front desk at 352-395-5508 so that a counselor can be made available as soon as possible.
Training for Staff & Faculty
Staff members of the Counseling and Wellness Center provide in-person departmental or group trainings for faculty and staff. The most regularly utilized trainings provided by the Counseling and Wellness Center include:
- QPR Suicide Prevention Training
- Front Line Safety (in collaboration with SFPD and Safety)
- Working and Communicating with Disruptive Students
- VAWA: What all college employees need to know about the Violence Against Women Act
- Stress management for those too busy to manage their stress
- General informational presentations about Counseling and Wellness Center services and recognizing and responding to students in need
Presentations for your Students
We provide a wide range of presentations to our students and would be happy to come and work with your student group. The most frequently requested classroom presentations include:
- QPR Suicide Prevention Training
- Reducing Test Anxiety
- Additionally many of our Living & Learning Workshop series workshops can be tailored to your class or group's specific needs.
Need counseling for personal matters?
The Counseling and Wellness Center does not provide counseling services for faculty and staff. Full-time faculty and staff may contact the Employee Assistance Program if you are seeking support for personal matters. Contact HR at 352-395-5185 for the login information.
