Financial Aid

Undocumented students, including DACA recipients, are not eligible for federal student aid. However, undocumented students, including DACA recipients, may be eligible for state or college financial aid.

Most states and colleges use information collected on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine whether students are eligible for aid. If you have a Social Security number, you may complete the FAFSA and we encourage you to do so at fafsa.gov. For the answer to the question about citizenship status, check the box that says "ineligible non-citizen".

We also recommend that you contact a financial aid advisor to see what types of financial aid you may be eligible to receive and whether completing the FAFSA is the way to apply for that aid.

Scholarships

Several scholarships are available to students who are undocumented. Click on the Santa Fe college General Scholarship Application link below. There will be 2 years of applications to choose from. Please choose Current Year. This scholarship application will automatically determine if you qualify for the SF International Resident Scholarship that assists international immigrants in financial need who are not studying with an F-1 or F-2 student visa. If you are not eligible to complete a FAFSA, the scholarship application will ask you to provide a statement of need instead.

SF's Career Exploration Center assists students with scholarships searches. The Learning Commons at SF also has writing tutors who may assist students with writing essays for scholarships.
