College Senate
Welcome
The College Senate is the primary means by which the faculty and technical/professional employees participate in the College Council and in the governance of Santa Fe College. It is concerned with all significant issues that affect the academic life of the college and/or the welfare of the faculty and technical/professional staff. The powers of the College Senate are derived from and subject to the powers of the Board of Trustees.
The purpose of the College Senate shall be to serve as a forum for the exchange of information and ideas among the faculty and technical/professional employees of Santa Fe College and between faculty and technical/professional employees and the administration of the college, in order advance effective instruction and student support services, to insure academic freedom, and to maintain professional standards.
The Purposes of the College Senate
- to provide a means by which the membership may participate in the formulation of policies for the college
- to promote cooperation for the improvement of the college and community
- to provide a medium through which solutions to educational problems may be found
- to provide opportunities for self-development and the exercise of initiative and leadership
- to stimulate professional enthusiasm and spirit
- to function as a liaison between the membership and other local, state, and national associations and programs
