SF CLOSED October 9-10

October 7, 2024

Santa Fe College President Paul Broadie II released the following statement to the college community in advance of Hurricane Milton.

Dear Santa Fe Family,

To support the safety and wellbeing of our students and employees, Santa Fe College will be CLOSED Wednesday and Thursday, October 9-10, 2024.

Hurricane Milton continues to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to make landfall Wednesday evening along the Florida west coast. I strongly encourage you to make preparations in advance of the storm. Please follow all official updates from the National Hurricane Center (Opens in new window), top off your vehicle’s gas tank, and ensure you have a supply of non-perishable food and water available. It is anticipated that our area will receive strong tropical storm winds and torrential downpours with 4-8 inches of rain or more falling within a 24-hour period. The Florida Department of Emergency Management (Opens in new window) website has resources and information available as the storm approaches. Additionally, they have activated the State Emergency Operations Center, and evacuations in coastal areas of western and southwestern Florida have begun.

The college’s Emergency Management Team will continue to meet during the storm and will make recommendations based on conditions as to when we will be able to reopen. All official updates from the college will be posted on our SF Alerts webpage (Opens in new window).

Stay safe,

Paul
