SF Closed Oct. 9-10 – Employee Instructions Before Leaving Campus

Major Hurricane Milton continues its track toward Florida's west coast. As of the 8 a.m. National Hurricane Center (NHC) report, the storm has sustained winds of 145 mph and is moving east-northeast at 12 mph. The storm is expected to make landfall as a major hurricane late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning along Florida's west coast.

Santa Fe College will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, and students and employees are strongly encouraged to take measures to protect themselves during the storm. Our region can anticipate strong tropical storm force winds and between 4-8 inches of rain.

Before employees leave campus today, they should take the following steps:

  • Refrigerators: Please remove all perishable food from refrigerators take home with you, or if you throw it out in the break room trash can, place trash bag outside of your office and notify Facilities.
  • Windows: Please ensure all windows in your office are closed and secured.
  • Outside Signs: Each department should bring all signage inside. Notify Facilities of any hanging signs that need to be removed.
  • Golf Carts: Facilities has asked that golf carts be parked as close to buildings as possible.
  • Employee Contact Lists: Supervisors be sure to take with them an updated contact list for reaching employees.

The college's SF Alerts webpage will provide all official updated information concerning Hurricane Helene or any other college alert issues. Get the latest information on the track of all storms through the National Hurricane Center's webpage.

The Emergency Management Team will meet throughout the storm and will provide timely updates to the college community.
