SF Basketball: Saints Battle Through a Week of Ups and Downs

The Santa Fe Saints basketball teams faced a challenging week of competition, highlighted by a conference victory for the women and a loss for the men at the Florida Juco Classic.
Men’s Basketball
The Santa Fe Saints faced a tough matchup at the Florida Juco Classic in Tallahassee on Sunday afternoon. The Saints were defeated by Gulf Coast State College, 82-63.
The Saints have a week off to regroup before their next contest against Florida State College at Jacksonville. The game is set for Monday, Dec. 16, at 5 p.m. in Gainesville.
Women’s Basketball
The Santa Fe Saints Women’s Basketball team experienced highs and lows this week, beginning with their first conference victory of the season on Wednesday night. Santa Fe College defeated St. Petersburg College on the road, 65-63.
On Saturday afternoon, the Saints faced Miami Dade College and fell 74-66 in a hard-fought battle. By the third quarter, the Saints had cut a 17-point halftime deficit to just one and even took their first lead at 55-54 in the fourth quarter. However, Miami Dade surged late, capitalizing on turnovers to pull away in the final minutes.
The Saints return to action on Monday night when they travel to Daytona State College.
