Community College Advocate, Terry O’Banion, to Speak at SF May 19
May 16, 2011
Dr. Terry O’Banion, a co-founder of Santa Fe College and architect of today’s Learning Colleges, will meet SF employees in an informal session beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday in the new Fine Arts Hall.
Terry and Dr. Joseph Fordyce arrived in Gainesville in 1965 to found an entirely new kind of college, the first in the nation built upon the student-centered principles that guide us to this day. After starting Santa Fe, Terry became president of the League for Innovation in the Community College and applied our “whole student” ethic to launch the Learning Revolution.
Terry is an engaging personality steeped in the history of the community college movement. He plans to tell stories and hopes for give-and-take with you and your Santa Fe colleagues.
