Civic Engagement Opportunity – Earn a Scholarship Reward!

May 10, 2011

If you want to make a difference in your community, here is your chance! Join the AmeriCorps College Access program by volunteering with the College Reach-Out Program (CROP), Upward Bound or National Achievers during their summer programs and fall mentoring opportunities.

Qualified volunteers will have experience working with middle school and high school students, a passion for teaching, and effective relationship skills.

Volunteers will serve as mentors to at-risk youth with the goal of helping them gain the skills and knowledge needed for college admission and success. Volunteers will provide mentoring to students in grades 6-12 either one-on-one or in small groups during the summer and after school in the fall.

Volunteers are required to complete 300 hours of service during this allotted time and will earn a scholarship of $1,132 for their academic needs.

This is a great way to build your résumé, create meaningful relationships, make a difference, and help pay your school expenses.
