Senior Checklist
All year long
- Find and apply for scholarships, many of which require community service hours.
- Find community service opportunities.
- Explore majors, degrees and careers.
- Speak to your counselor about taking the SAT, ACT and/or PERT.
Key Dates
August
September
- Fill out Santa Fe College application. Check your My Status on eSantaFe to submit necessary enrollment documents.
- Speak to counselors, teachers, coaches, etc. for letters of recommendation.
October
- Begin to apply for SF Foundation scholarships by visiting sfcollege.edu/foundation/scholarships.
December
- Apply early! FAFSA opens December 1 and grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
January
- Schedule a campus visit: sfcollege.edu/admissions/campus-visit
- Consider your housing needs.
- Finish strong! You are halfway done with your senior year.
February
- Apply for scholarships. SF Foundation priority date for high school seniors is February 15.
March
- Apply for Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. Must be completed before graduation.
- Attend Santa Fe College’s Open House on March 23, 2024.
To Finish
- Submit final transcripts, after graduation, to Santa Fe College. Final transcripts with graduation date are needed before you can meet with your academic advisor and register for classes.
- Remember FAFSA closes June 30.
- Consider taking Summer B classes to get a head start. You must complete the previous year FAFSA to receive financial aid.

A.A. Degree – A transfer degree, equivalent to the first two years of a bachelor’s degree. An A.A. degree requires 60 credit hours.
Associate in Science and Associate in Applied Science – A.S. and A.A.S. – Two-year degrees for students training to enter the workforce with a competitive skill set. Credits earned for most A.S. degrees can be applied towards an SF’s bachelor’s degree. See advisor for details.
Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Applied Science – B.S. and B.A.S. – Four-year degrees for students building the foundation for a lifelong career. Degree offerings are specifically designed to meet the workforce needs in North Central Florida.
Certificates and Apprenticeships – C.C.C. and C.T.C. – Career and Technical Certificate (C.T.C) and College Credit Certificate (C.C.C.) programs are often paired with paid apprenticeships and many can be completed in six months. Credits earned with CCCs can be applied towards SF's A.S. and bachelor’s degrees.
Local jobs for local graduates – While the Associate in Arts degree is the top choice for students transferring to a university, SF’s certificates, Associate in Science and bachelor degrees are specifically designed to prepare students to enter the North Central Florida workforce in higher-demand, higher-wage fields. Ninety-six percent of SF graduates find a job or continue their education after graduation.
Loans – Money borrowed to attend college that must be paid back with interest.
Grants/Scholarships – Money awarded from a variety of sources that does not need to be paid back.
