Mobile Gaming Entrepreneurship, Certificate

Program Overview

The certificate in Mobile Gaming Entrepreneurship is a 27-credit hour program that provides students with an introduction to the field of business development and entrepreneurship with a focus on building mobile gaming applications and bringing applications to the market. All courses must be passed with a grade of C or higher to receive the certificate.

The certificate includes coursework in financial accounting, database management, programming, mobile app development, information security, introduction to business, management, entrepreneurship, and a special topics course that will include exposure to business support services available through SF's Center for Innovation and Economic Development (CIED).

Students may leave SF after completion of this innovative program to become a mobile app entrepreneur or enter the workforce in the mobile app gaming industry in a position such as video game designer.

Requirements for the certification program include:

Completed College Placement Test (CPT) with college level skills in reading, writing, and math and the following prerequisites:

  • ACG2011 or ACG2021
  • COP2000 or COP2002
  • COP2551

  • Florida Residents:
    • $106.77 per credit hour * 27 credit hours = $2,882.79
  • Non-Florida Residents:
    • $382.90 per credit hour * 27 credit hours = $10,338.30

Positions available to program graduates include video game designer. Students may also continue their education in various program areas, including the Associate inScience, Business Administration and Associate in Science, Programming and Analysis.

Salary range in Florida:

  • Workers on average earn$80,150.
  • 10% of workers earn$47,320 or less.
  • 10% of workers earn$151,280 or more.

Salary range in the United States:

  • Workers on average earn$98,540.
  • 10% of workers earn$48,210 or less.
  • 10% of workers earn$176,490 or more.

After successfully completing this program, the student will be able to

  • Demonstrate knowledge of management and leadership concepts.
  • Demonstrate effective business communication skills.
  • Evaluate compliance of legal, ethical, risk management, or financial requirements.
  • Apply knowledge in operational and financial functions when acquiring, analyzing, managing, and securing data/information.
  • Create and maintain database objects, store, retrieve and manipulate data stored in a relational database.
  • Develop software applications in several programming languages that includes programming structures, arrays, object-oriented principle, and libraries and perform industry standard testing activities.
  • Demonstrate fundamental proficiency in foundational security essentials.
  • Gain comprehensive project experience in the development of hybrid mobile applications on popular platforms used on modern mobile devices, covering hardware capabilities and limitations, the development environment, and the communications infrastructure
