Applied Business Analytics, A.S.

Program Overview

The Associate in Science Degree in Applied Business Analytics is a 60-credit hour program that develops the students' knowledge and skills in business, statistics, and information sciences. The knowledge and skills developed are required to understand and demonstrate how to make modern business decisions grounded in data. In addition to the traditional business disciplines of accounting, finance, economics, management, and marketing, students will demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of computer programming and database management. This knowledge will be combined with quantitative tools and techniques that students can apply to a variety of business situations. Most importantly, graduates of this program will be exposed to the knowledge and skills needed to communicate with other analysts, managers, and information technology professionals and will support the students ability to generate data informed decisions and drive businesses into a modern digital presence.

Upon completion of this program, students may begin entry level careers as business analytics or continue studies at SF in the B.A.S. in Organizational Management Applied Business Analytics concentration.

Some of the entry level careers the graduate may pursue include Administrative Analyst, Business Analyst, Business Consultant, Employment Programs Analyst, Management Analyst, Management Consultant, Organizational Development Consultant, Performance Management Analyst, Program Management Analyst.

There are no admissions requirements for this program.

If a student is not at college level, they would take the prep classes before beginning the program courses, but could still be admitted.

Students can pursue two programs at the same time, such as an A.S. degree and an A.A. degree, or a primary degree and an alternate degree.

    • $106.77 per credit hour x 60 credit hours = $6,406.20
  • Non-Florida Residents:
    • $382.90 per credit hour x 60 credit hours = $22,974.00

Upon completion of the Associate in Science in Applied Business Analytics degree, students may begin entry level careers in business analytics or continue studies at SF in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management - Applied Business Analytics concentration.

After successfully completing this program, the student will be able to:

  • Prepare and use financial information about business organizations to support decision making.
  • Manage business information using appropriate software.
  • Describe information systems and requirements analysis. This description should identify the project goal, data storage, movement, security, quality, usage, and functional requirements that should be met.
  • Demonstrate effective business communication and collaboration skills.
  • Describe how data is organized and examine the business intelligence process used in transforming data to useful information. Demonstrate skills in analyzing data using spreadsheet software applications.
  • Design and build business applications using database management systems.
  • Evaluate business and financial information to support internal decision making.
  • Describe the implications of professional values, ethics, and attitudes in business.
  • Demonstrate fundamental techniques and methods used in the analysis of computerized business activities, including consideration of information requirements, resources, and its impact on business decisions.

Need C or higher in all coursework, including internship, to graduate.

All students are urged to make an appointment to see SF's Business Programs Advisor once each semester to ensure that adequate progress toward a degree is being made. All students must apply for graduation upon enrollment in their last semester of coursework.
