Student IDs

Overview

Caesar IDSanta Fe College issues identification cards to all SF students and college employees. The Santa Fe College ID (“SFID”) card provides proof of a person’s status as a student or staff member at the college. Students must be currently enrolled in classes and have tuition fully paid to be eligible for SFID card.

Obtaining an ID

Government Issued ID Policy

Students must present a current U.S government issued photo ID (e.g. state-issued ID card, driver's license, military ID, passport), a non-U.S. passport, or an official photo ID issued by a Florida public school within the past 5 years. Make sure your full name on your presenting ID matches what we have in the system. If you need to change your name, please do so with the Records Office first.

To update your name or date of birth, submit a Student Information Change Request to registrar@sfcollege.edu.

Processing Time

Making an SFID card takes about five minutes. To reduce your wait time, get your SFID card as soon as you register for classes, and avoid peak times by coming in before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m. Waiting until the first week of classes can result in a wait of an hour or longer.

Online and Center Student Card Service

Students enrolled in only online classes or classes at a Santa Fe College center may complete an online ID appointment and have their SFID card mailed. Cards will only be mailed to the current address listed in eSantaFe. Make address updates through eSantaFe account prior to the appointment. A zoom link will be sent at the time of the appointment.

To make an appointment email student.life@sfcollege.edu with your name and student ID number.

Students taking classes on the main campus should come in person. See location and hours below.

Is there a cost?

Student activity and service fees (A&S fees) pay for a student's first card. Adult Education IDs cost $5. All replacements for lost or damaged cards cost $10. A&S Fees will cover the replacement cost for students that have not been enrolled at the college in five years.

Card Access and Uses

The SFID Card has a magnetic strip to store information. The card serves both as an identification card and as an access card. Students can use the same card each semester, as long as they are enrolled in classes. However, students cannot have more than one active card. If a replacement card is issued, the previous card will be inactivated and will not work.

Campus Resources

Current uses include access to the SF Fitness Center, Rec Room, Lawrence W. Tyree Library, and the Testing Center. Many instructors require presentation of an SFID card for access to tests and quizzes.

RTS

Santa Fe College students and employees may ride standard RTS buses for free system-wide when showing an SFID. For information on RTS routes servicing Santa Fe College and the City of Gainesville, visit go-rts.com.

Discounts

Many businesses in Gainesville give discounts to individuals with valid SFID cards.

Replacing a Lost or Stolen Card

Although there is no upfront cost to obtain an SFID since student activity and service fees (A&S fees) pay for a student's first card, if you lose or damage the card, the replacement cost is $10.

SFID cards lost on campus should be returned to Student Life. Let us know you lost it and we will check for it.

SFID Card Return Policy

The purposes for the cards are to ensure proper identification for access to college facilities, resources, events, and activities. The cards are property of the college and should be presented or surrendered to college staff upon request.

SFID cards should be returned to the college upon termination of the holder's relationship with the college.
