The individual barriers that prevent students from entering college and being successful can be complicated and feel overwhelming, but they can often be overcome when the right support is enlisted. SF Achieve works to reduce barriers – financial and personal – so that all students can identify and achieve their personal educational goals.

Get Involved

Community organizations play a critical role in encouraging and supporting the young people of Alachua and Bradford counties. SF Achieve staff can meet with your organization or group and help you better understand how to talk with students about the decisions they are facing and opportunities they have to attend college.

Families

Parents and guardians are the biggest contributors to student success. SF Achieve staff are experienced in working with all aspects of the admissions process, including specialized support for first generation students (students who are the first in their family to attend college). Information sessions will help families understand the college process and feel excited about it. Parents and guardians are welcome to reach out with questions by emailing parents@sfcollege.edu.

Educators

Some students hear the message that they have what it takes to go to college, but many of them won't believe it. Take the time to learn about SF's programs of study, so you can help students find programs that really are a good fit for them. SF has dozens of hands-on programs that lead to high-wage careers right here in North Central Florida. Whether its a four-year degree or a six-month certificate program, college has the power to pull students out of poverty, and help them contribute to the community.

Employers

Students of today are the workforce of tomorrow. Help keep our talent close to home! Apprenticeships, like those offered through SF's Construction and Technical programs, let students "earn while you learn." There are opportunities to grow similar programs in any of SF's Career and Technical Education (CTE) areas. Join an academic advisory committee to keep the college informed of job skills training needed in your industry.
