Advisors support Associate in Arts degree seeking students and students completing developmental education courses. The A.A. Advisement Center provides students with information and guidance as they develop a plan to attain their educational goals - including course selection and sequencing, general education requirements, and transfer options and requirements. Students seeking a baccalaureate degree, A.S. degree, or one of our many certificate options, receive academic advising in their home departments. The Career Exploration Center (CEC) maintains informational resources to assist students in the career development process. This process often includes choosing career goals, majors, colleges and life directions. The CEC offers computerized assessments of a person’s interests, values, personality and other relevant factors. The Ombudsperson offers a safe and private environment for students to discuss concerns or complaints. As an advocate for fairness, the Ombudsperson serves as an independent and unbiased mediator as students resolve academic challenges. The Counseling and Wellness Center provides short-term, solution focused, confidential counseling to SF students free of charge. Students may make an appointment or drop-in between 8am and 4pm Counselors are available to consult with faculty and staff about student concerns, and they can assist students, faculty and staff in identifying other services in the community that may be helpful. Financial aid helps students and their families pay for college. This financial assistance helps cover educational expenses and related costs. There are several types of financial aid, including grants and scholarships, work-study and loans. The first step in applying for federal financial aid is completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
