SF Basketball: Saints Leave It All on the Court Against Daytona State

The Santa Fe Saints basketball teams faced tough battles on Wednesday, taking on the Daytona State Falcons. Both teams fought hard but came up short against their opponents.
Men’s Basketball
The Saints faced a tough challenge on Wednesday night, opening conference play against the #12-ranked Daytona State Falcons.
Daytona State’s strong offense led to a 105-76 win over the Saints in the Citrus Conference opener. The Falcons jumped ahead early, scoring 47 points in the first half and leading 47-28 at halftime. The Saints fought hard in the second half, putting up 48 points, but Daytona State’s offense stayed hot, giving them the victory.
The Saints will next play at Eastern Florida State College on Saturday, Jan. 11.
Women’s Basketball
The Santa Fe Saints women’s basketball team also lost to Daytona State on Wednesday, falling 72-71.
The Saints started slow, trailing 16-11 after the first quarter and 37-26 at halftime. In the second half, SF came alive, scoring 27 points in the third quarter and outscoring the Falcons by 10 points. Despite the strong comeback, the Saints fell just one point short in a dramatic finish.
The Saints take the court again on Jan. 11 when they face Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne.
