SF Baseball: Saints Drop Two to State College of Florida, Series Slips Away

Two days after celebrating a win at home, the Santa Fe Saints saw the tables turn on the road. State College of Florida retaliated to take both games of Saturday’s doubleheader, claiming the conference series.

In the first game, the Saints struggled to get anything going. State College of Florida jumped ahead early with three runs in the first inning, added two more in the third, and closed it out with four in the sixth. The Saints couldn’t answer, falling 9-0 in a seven-inning shutout.

Game two offered a bit more drama. The Saints fell behind early but managed to even the score midway through. Still, the Manatees held firm, edging out SF 6-4 to complete the sweep.

The Saints return to action Thursday with a road game at St. Petersburg College.
