Santa Fe College’s Vice President of Advancement Honored for Leadership
December 17, 2024
Sherry Houston, Santa Fe College’s Vice President of Advancement and Chief Philanthropy Officer, has been honored with the 2024 Win Phillips Town Gown Relations Award. This prestigious recognition, established in 2022, celebrates leaders who strengthen the connection between the greater Gainesville community and the University of Florida.
The University of Florida presented three Win Phillips Town Gown Relations Awards on Friday, recognizing achievements in a partnership initiative between UF and the community, a Gainesville community member, and a UF faculty member.
Houston, former CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida, received the award for Gainesville community members. She led a $3.4 million campaign to turn the former Hope Lodge into a 50-room facility for families of children receiving critical care at UF Health. The project increased capacity by 40%, offering more families privacy, comfort and support.
Houston joined Santa Fe College earlier this year after a nationwide search, bringing more than 16 years of executive experience in Advancement roles.
Santa Fe College President Dr. Paul Broadie II spoke to Houston’s qualifications, saying, “She has a proven track record of fundraising and donor relations success across multiple platforms, has a stellar record garnering mission-focused philanthropic and community-wide support, and the leadership experience and fiscal acumen to lead the Office of Advancement.”
Houston’s recognition underscores her dedication to strengthening relationships within the Gainesville community and her ongoing commitment to advancing impactful initiatives.
