Santa Fe College Celebrates First Gen Day on Nov. 6
October 21, 2024
The Santa Fe College community is invited to celebrate our first-generation students on First Gen Day, Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Building R, Room 001 on SF’s Northwest Campus.
A first-generation college student is someone whose parents did not complete a four-year college degree. At Santa Fe College, about one in three students is first-generation, and the college also has approximately 170 employees who share this background.
A designated NASPA First-Gen Forward Institution, Santa Fe College is dedicated to supporting first-generation students. First Gen Day recognizes not only the students but also the faculty and staff who were the first in their families to graduate from college.
The day will start with a welcome speech by President Broadie, followed by engaging presentations and a resource fair. First-generation students and staff can enjoy pizza, prizes and t-shirts while supplies last.
