Santa Fe and University of Limoges finalize cultural exchange partnership
Santa Fe College and the University of Limoges in Limoges, France, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will expand Santa Fe's International engagement opportunities.
The College international programs are designed to prepare students to be globally competent and globally competitive with a high level of intercultural competency.
The University of Limoges has long tradition of links and exchanges with global university partners. It is host to more international students than any other French university.
The MOU with the University of Limoges sets the stage for several exciting initiatives, said Marcela Murillo, Ph.D., International Education. The agreement supports:
- IFOLMER Exchange Internship Program:
IFOLMER, the Institute for Training in Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy, has proposed a six-week internship opportunity for Santa Fe College students in physical therapy. The program includes room and board provided by IFOLMER, with the potential for reciprocal arrangements for Limoges students at Santa Fe College. - Staff and Administrative Exchange:
A proposed one-week exchange for staff to promote cross-cultural professional development and build stronger institutional ties.
“These opportunities reflect the broader intent of the MOU to deepen academic collaboration and expand global engagement for both institutions,” Murillo said.
Related, students will have the opportunity to travel to Limoges this Spring as part of the college's Study Abroad program.
The topic for the May 31-June 15, 2025, trip will be Health Sciences, led by faculty members Dr. M.C Blackburn and Dr. Tim McIntyre. Scheduled courses are Anatomy and Physiology 1 and Independent Study.
At SF, students can study abroad on short-term faculty-led programs. The programs are between 1-4 weeks long during the spring and summer semesters. While participating on a study abroad program, students will receive academic credit, learn valuable global skills, and be immersed in a new culture.
