Santa Fe College Head Baseball Coach Johnny Wiggs will be inducted into the 2025 NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in May.
Coach Wiggs has been with Santa Fe College since 2007. During his 18 seasons, Wiggs has led the Saints baseball team to 582 wins, the most of any coach in the team’s history. He has also guided the team to:
- nine Mid-Florida Conference Championships.
- two FCSAA/NJCAA Region VIII State Tournament Championships.
- two JUCO World Series, including a runner-up finish in 2009.
Chanda Stebbins, the Director of Athletics at Santa Fe College, shared her pride in Coach Wiggs, saying, “This honor accurately reflects excellence in coaching baseball, and for me and our Athletic Department, this is clearly evident in the young men he has led and the lives they now live. We are so proud of Coach Wiggs and all that this honor represents.”
Coach Wiggs has also helped 177 players continue their education and baseball careers by sending them to four-year schools. Additionally, two players signed free agent contracts after playing at SF, and seven players have been drafted into professional baseball.
Wiggs credits much of his success to the great players he has worked with over the years.
“I am extremely honored and humbled by all of this,” he said. “I have been fortunate to be surrounded by a lot of great players and assistant coaches, and this is as much their honor as it is mine. I will always be appreciative of the opportunity I have been given to be a head junior college baseball coach for the last 26+ years. We have won a lot of games and championships, but I hope I have made a difference in a lot of player's lives.”
