Explore Learning Mindsets at the Student Affairs Symposium on Nov. 1

October 29, 2024

This year's Student Affairs Symposium will take place online on Friday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. The event will begin with a brief awards ceremony, followed by a keynote presentation from Dr. Ladonna Young of Motivate Lab, who will discuss "Mindsets Matter: The How Behind the What."

According to Dr. Young, "Learning mindsets are students' beliefs about themselves and their learning environments. We'll focus on three key mindsets: growth mindset, purpose and relevance, and sense of belonging. Expect to be introduced to a motivation framework and learning mindset strategies that can be seamlessly integrated into your interactions with students with deliberate planning and a commitment to continuous improvement."

Attendees are encouraged complete the workshop pre-assessment, which gauges their current level of familiarity with the workshop's topics and concepts.

All Santa Fe College employees are invited to participate in the event. Those who are interested in participating should email joseph.jester@sfcollege.edu for a link to the virtual symposium.
