November 6, 2024
Dr. David Pfahler is a Professor of Chemistry and Environmental Science at Santa Fe College. With over a decade at the college and a background as a research officer in the United States Air Force, Dr. Pfahler brings a unique blend of theoretical and applied science to his classroom.
This spotlight features Dr. Pfahler's innovative use of the North Woods Teaching Area on campus. Passionate about connecting foundational science concepts with real-world environmental issues, he regularly takes his classes outdoors. Through this approach, he encourages students to engage with the natural world, collect samples, observe wildlife, and apply scientific principles to real-life environmental scenarios.
Dr. Pfahler views the North Woods as an underutilized resource that can enrich students' learning and deepen their understanding of ecological systems.
