June 30, 2022 – As a qualifying employer, Santa Fe College(Opens in new window) employees have the opportunity to cancel their remaining student loan debt after 120 qualifying payments under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program(Opens in new window). Currently, a waiver(Opens in new window) is in place that allows more payments to be considered qualifying. The waiver ends on October 31, 2022. Additionally, every month where payments and interest were waived for the pandemic counts as a qualifying payment. Reduced payments or $0 payments under the various Income Driven Repayment Plans qualify as well.
Employees are encouraged to use the PSLF Help Tool(Opens in new window) to get credit for their qualifying payments, even if they believe that have not made all the payments to get full loan forgiveness. Now is a great time to have your loan file reviewed to ensure that you get credit for payments that might otherwise not be qualifying.
