Take Stock in Children Helps Alachua and Bradford County Students Succeed

August 15, 2018 – Take Stock in Children (TSIC)(Opens in new window) is a program that assists low-income, at-risk students break the cycle of poverty by providing mentoring and scholarship opportunities to help students graduate high school and earn a college degree.
Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA and qualify for free or reduced school lunches in order to apply. Once accepted into the program, students are paired with a mentor who acts as an advocate, role model and friend as the student continues their high school education. If the student successfully graduates from high school with the guidance of TSIC, they receive a two-year college scholarship.
TSIC is seeking mentors in both Alachua(Opens in new window) and Bradford(Opens in new window) counties to help area students. Mentors meet with their student weekly at the student's school and work with them to help them reach their goal of getting a college education.
