Saints Drop a Pair of Matches at Lake Sumter

September 18, 2017 - The Santa Fe College Saints traveled to Lake Sumter State College Saturday battling the host Lakehawks as well as Hillsborough State College in a pair of matches.
The Saints (2-9) had previously defeated Lake Sumter earlier this season 3-0 in Gainesville, but dropped the rematch in a thrilling five-set match (25-18, 19-25, 24-26, 28-26, 14-16). Sterling Williamson finished with 19 kills and Tina Mayberry had 12.
After just a short break the Saints turned around and played for FCSAA Champions Hillsborough CC. The Hawks won the first set, 25-20 before SF bounced back to tie it with a win in the second 25-18. Hillsborough took the next two sets, 25-15 and 25-23 to win the match 3-1.
"Being close is fine, but we need to find a way to get over that hump," said SF Coach Nick Cheronis.
