Fundamentals of Diversity
This workshop engages participants in developing their thinking about diversity. Learn
basic concepts and terminology used to converse about diversity and inclusion. Explore
your different identities and selves.
Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2-3 p.m.
Exploring Oppression, Privilege and Bias
Examine privilege, oppression & unconscious biases from different perspectives. Engage
in group discussions on how to implement fruitful practices that address existing
forms of oppression and discrimination in society. We will also discuss evidence-based
strategies for decreasing the influence of bias in day-to-day interactions.
Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2-3 p.m.
A Step Towards Intercultural Competence: Multicultural Communication
Explore communication skills for promoting inclusion and respect in the college &
workplace, as well as ways to use communication to effectively address issues of incivility
and disrespect. The power of respect and speaking up will be highlighted through the
use of real-life examples.
