Grab your sunscreen, get out and enjoy the art at this weekend's 41st Santa Fe College Spring Arts Festival in downtown Gainesville. Historic NE 1st Street and the lawn of the Thomas Center, 302 NE 6th Avenue, are where you should be 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday and noon-5:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission's free!
“Winter was long and cold and we are so ready for spring,” said Kathryn Lehman, festival coordinator. “Santa Fe Spring Arts is Gainesville's springtime celebration. We look forward to everyone coming out and enjoying a great weekend!”
More than 120,000 fans explore artists' stalls and discover unique jewelry, photographs, paintings, and many more varieties of art. Outstanding artists come from as far away as California to show their wares at this longest running arts festival in North Central Florida.
Two festival stages rock with continuous performances. Kids love to get their faces painted and create art at the Art Jungle on the lawn of the Thomas Center. For yet more excitement, kids and grownups alike can make a side trip to the SF Teaching Zoo(Opens in new window) (3000 NW 83rd Street, Gainesville, 32606) and catch its Party for the Planet(Opens in new window) also this weekend.
