Microsoft Outage and Its Impact to SF Systems
July 19, 2024
July 19, 2024 – While Santa Fe College was not directly affected by Microsoft's global outage reported overnight, some of our partners were, which is affecting some operations.
The outage, which affected airlines, banks, emergency services and more, stemmed partly from a software update issued by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, according to reports.
While CrowdStrike has implemented a fix and is working to restore all services. However, many operating systems are still affected.
At Santa Fe College, our call center software Telax, and Navigate, our early alert system used by faculty to support students, are experiencing intermittent outages and delays. These outages mean service may be disrupted and notifications may be delayed. The college's Information Technology Systems (ITS) is aware of the situation and working with partners, however the issue is not with any software used or under the control of the college.
At this point, there is no timeline for a full restoration of services.
We are monitoring the situation and will provide updates as needed.
