SF Completes 14th Habitat for Humanity House

June 18, 2024

June 18, 2024 – Last Thursday, the 14th home built by Santa Fe College students and apprentices was moved from the Northwest Campus to its permanent site.

Toikeith Reynolds will be the new house's owner. Reynolds told a local media outlet that "A home to me is more than just eating food on the table. It's a place to come and think about things that happen in your life; you might make decisions, go to school, start a business, whatever the case may be."

Students in Santa Fe College's Construction and Technical programs worked with crews from Habitat for Humanity. This home is the third sponsored by local company Charles Perry Partners Inc. The Builders Association of North Central Florida sponsors the SF apprentices.

Work on each house begins during the fall term. Students work throughout the year to get the home ready to leave the Charles R. Perry Construction Institute in late spring. It is built in two parts and reassembled on the homesite. Once it arrives at its destination, the home gets a few final finishing touches before the keys are given to the new owners.

Construction of the fifteenth Habitat house will begin in August.
