May 28, 2024

May 28, 2024 – UF's College of Education recently profiled Jen Homard on its Alumni page, highlighting her work at Santa Fe College and area schools. Homard is SF's Executive Director of Secondary Programs.

In 2020, Homard proposed the idea of the Academy of Science and Technology to SF President Paul Broadie II. Students could earn their Associate in Science degree and industry certifications while completing their high school graduation requirements at no cost to the students or families.

Recently celebrating its first year, the Academy aims to give students the tools needed to be successful in the 21st century workforce through academic excellence, technical training, and strong partnerships with SF and local industry leaders.

Homard was also instrumental in starting the ACB Excel program. The community-funded initiative at Santa Fe College empowers entire families by offering parents and their school-aged children free access to academic programs and services simultaneously. Parents receive rapid credentialing for high-wage, in-demand jobs, while their children participate in enriching activities that support their well-being.

"It's so rewarding to do these things at Santa Fe ," Homard said in her profile, "it feels like my legacy."
