May 6, 2024 – Last week, Santa Fe College gathered to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2024, with graduates, their families and faculty coming together for this momentous occasion.

Graduates participated in the Nursing Pinning Ceremony last Thursday. Their accomplishments were applauded throughout the event’s reflections and presentations. Bachelor’s, A.S., A.A.S., Certificates, and A.A. program graduates were honored the following day. According to President Broadie’s commencement address, 1,565 students were candidates for graduation between the spring and summer terms.

Student veterans and first-generation students were recognized alongside other stand-out graduates like Mikayla Stesney, a Phi Theta Kappa student who guided PTK in its first Honors in Action project in more than a decade. However, President Broadie’s address put the spotlight on the entire graduating class.

“I thank you for bringing your talents to Santa Fe College and enriching our academic and social environment” he said. “As students, you have embraced our commitment to high quality learning, academic excellence, and personal and intellectual growth. Because of that, you sit here today, poised to share your talents with the world.”

Each ceremony concluded with the traditional turning of the tassels, symbolizing the graduates’ transition from students to alumni.

“Students,” President Broadie said, “you have excelled, removed barriers and committed to reaching your goals. You have been unstoppable.”
