PTK Awards Prestigious Paragon Award to SF President Dr. Paul Broadie II

April 15, 2024

Santa Fe College President Dr. Paul Broadie II was honored April 5 with a Paragon Award by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at PTK Catalyst 2024, the Society's annual convention in Orlando.

Dr. Broadie was among 24 college presidents who have shown support of student success initiatives leading to stronger pathways to completion, transfer, and employment. They have taken an active interest in supporting high-achieving students and developing student leaders on campus. The president was nominated for the award by PTK students, whose dedication to academic excellence and involvement in PTK have earned SF back-to-back years of 5-Star status from the honor society.

"These college presidents have students-first leadership styles and made it a priority to support student success both inside and outside the classroom," said Phi Theta Kappa President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner. "This award is special because it comes directly from the students, and it is evidence of the gratitude they feel for the support for them and students like them."

While expressing gratitude for the award, Dr. Broadie recognized SF's PTK Chapter advisors and students and congratulated them again for the chapter's incredible achievements.

"These amazing students are highly engaged and committed to academic excellence. Under the leadership of David Durkee, these students have raised the bar, and encouraged each other to pursue their academic goals. I commend them for their focus and commitment, and I am honored to work with and support our outstanding students."

Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. The Society is made up of more than 3.8 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 11 countries, with approximately 240,000 active members in the nation's colleges.
