Enhancing Military Cultural Competency: A New Training Opportunity for Santa Fe College Employees

April 9, 2024 – Santa Fe College is pleased to announce the availability of a new training program, "Veterans on Campus: Serving Those Who Served," now accessible on Canvas for all college employees. This innovative training is designed to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the unique challenges faced by student veterans as they transition to college life. The program is an interactive role-play simulation that equips faculty and staff with the skills to engage in meaningful conversations with student veterans. Through this immersive experience, participants gain insights into the military cultural competency necessary to support our veteran students effectively.

The training is tailored for professionals in Higher Education, focusing on the specific needs of these environments. It is designed for faculty and staff who interact with Veterans and Service Members, ensuring that our college community is well-equipped to meet their needs. The training emphasizes mental health and well-being and addresses the unique challenges faced by military families/veterans. The training is concise yet comprehensive, requiring only 30 minutes to complete, making it accessible for busy schedules.
