Santa Fe College Celebrates 40th Anniversary of Displaced Homemaker Program

February 21, 2024

You are invited to attend the Displaced Homemaker Program 40th Anniversary Reception on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in Building R, Room 1 (R-001) on the Northwest Campus of Santa Fe College. Graduates of the program representing each decade will share their story of the impact the program has made in their lives.

JoAnn Wilkes, Director of the Displaced Homemaker Program, said, "We are so proud of our graduates and their accomplishments. We hope our graduates and community supporters will come celebrate with us."

The Displaced Homemaker program (DHP) offers educational assistance and additional support to empower people in our community who are transitioning into employment after working primarily in the home. DHP offers free classes and workshops throughout the year. Specialized services include boosting self-esteem, improving communications skills, assertiveness training, resume assistance, job searching techniques, and interview practice.

Since 1984, DHP has assisted over 4,000 people in our community, resulting in increased wages and buying power, and a reduced need for social services. Please join us in recognizing the impact this program has made at Santa Fe College.
