ICYMI: Santa Fe College's Award Retrospective

December 30, 2023 – The IACP Leadership in Victim Services Award and several AFC accolades were a few notable honors the Santa Fe College community earned over the past year. Here are a few accomplishments you might have missed:
- Santa Fe College announced the 2023 Women of Distinction Honorees: Bea Awoniyi, Annette Bauer, Yvette Carter and Lisa Prevatt were honored alongside
the 2023 Woman of Promise, Emma Hutto.
- Santa Fe College was named a Voter Friendly Campus: The mission of the 2023 Voter Friendly Campus designation is to bolster colleges
and universities' efforts to help students overcome barriers to participating in the
political process – every year, not just during years featuring federal elections.
- Cheetara Ritz received the 2023 Career Service S.T.A.R. Award: Winners must display consistent excellence in their role, significant contributions
to customer service and commitment to the college community.
- Santa Fe College was recognized for the sixth year in a row as a Military Friendly
school: SF also earned a Top 10 designation for the second straight year in the Large Public
Institution category.
- The City of Gainesville declared June 12 Sandra Torres-Pintos Day: Torres-Pintos was named the North Florida South Georgia 2023 Woman Veteran of the
Year for her dedication to military veterans and their families.
- Several college employees received recognition at the 11th Annual Student Affairs

- The Santa Fe College Police Department earned the 2023 IACP Leadership in Victim Services
Award: The SFPD was honored for placing individuals at the center of efforts with partnerships,
performance monitoring tools, holistic support and a full-time victim advocate.
- Santa Fe College was named a 2023 Best for Vets College by Military Times: SF was recognized for its commitment to student veterans and their families.
- SF's AFC Chapter, faculty and staff earned many accolades: Manisha Ranade, Corey Moran, John Spence, Linda Mussillo and Shellie Banfield received
individual honors while the AFC Chapter was named "2023 Gold Chapter" and awarded
first place in the AFC Membership Challenge.
- The Santa Fe College Model United Nations Team won big: The team earned several awards at the 34th annual Southern Regional Model UN Conference
in Atlanta, Georgia.
- SF's Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl Team wrapped up a great Fall 2023 season: The team had impressive wins over Auburn University and the University of North
Florida as well as receiving The Spirit of the Ethics Bowl Award.
- The TRIO Educational Talent Search met and exceeded all its objectives: 80% of its seniors enrolled in college.
