CTLE Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Tania Cordova-Sintjago – Teaching with Light Board Technology
October 24, 2023
October 24, 2023 – A light board is often used in recording video lectures. The presenter faces the camera and writes on a glass chalkboard that is filled with light. The writing appears on-screen. It's a simple, yet powerful tool that Dr. Tania Cordova-Sintjago jumped on when she first saw its use.
Dr. Cordova-Sintjago has been a professor of Chemistry in SF's Natural Sciences Department since 2017. She previously taught at UF, Florida A&M and the Universidad Central de Venezuela. She has many academic interests including educational technology, distance learning, and design for Chemistry Laboratories.
Light board technology became available at Santa Fe College in 2022. Seeing the potential to help her students, Dr. Cordova-Sintjago was an early adopter of the technology and soon began creating a content repository. She now has a YouTube channel organized in playlists by topic containing over 200 short videos. She incorporates the videos into all her courses by adding specific playlists into different modules according to the learning objectives.
