We're Here to Help: Scholarships
October 17, 2023
October 17, 2023 – Scholarships provide an opportunity to be debt-free while obtaining a valuable education. They are awarded to students based on specific criteria such as financial need and achievements. Perhaps most importantly, scholarships do not have to be repaid.
Scholarships like those the Santa Fe College Foundation offer can help students pursue their academic dreams. SF graduate Samantha Long was encouraged to apply for the Women's Career and Technical Education (CTE) Scholarship. Receiving it ignited her hopes of opening a garage.
"It'll be a little shop where I can work on cars and trucks," Long said. "My daughter can hang out there after school, too."
This financial opportunity empowered Long to earn her A.A.S. in Automotive Service Management Technology despite any monetary hardships.
"I feel like the college really wants its students to succeed," Long said.
SF encourages current and potential students to complete the Santa Fe College General Scholarship Application. This unlocks many options, including the CTE Scholarship, Bachelor's Degree (Baccalaureate) Scholarship and more. Students also have access to third-party and state scholarships like the Bright Future Scholarship Program.
Like most financial aid, scholarships have their rules and deadlines. For example, the Bachelor's Degree Scholarship requires students to:
- Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in an A.A. or A.S. degree program.
- Be admitted into an SF Bachelor's degree program.
- Have financial need as determined by a FAFSA standardized calculation.
- Have in-state residency or qualify for the Florida High School Graduate Out-of-State Waiver for tuition purposes.
