SF's Professional Development Day is This Friday, March 3
March 2, 2023
March 2, 2023 – Santa Fe College will hold a Professional Development Day to invest in college employees this Friday, March 3. Employees across the college community will be able to engage with each other, collaborate with departments across the college, enhance knowledge about programs and services offered at SF, learn about new and upcoming initiatives and more. President Broadie said he intends the day to be a day of "celebration, collaboration and connection."
The college has canceled all classes and is closing all student service offices at all SF locations to let employees participate in professional development.
The day is scheduled to open in the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall with coffee and muffins beginning at 8 a.m. Employees will check in (like you would at any professional development conference) where they will receive the full schedule, their name tag, a lunch ticket and a gift.
An awards ceremony will start in the hall at 9, which will recognize the accomplishments of SF employees over the past year, followed by the keynote address from Dr. Tia Brown McNair. After the keynote, lunch will be provided based on meal reservations employees made earlier. Any employee who is attending, but has not yet made a meal reservation should contact human.resources@sfcollege.edu immediately.
The afternoon sessions will feature a workshop from Dr. Tia Brown McNair in the Fine Arts Hall, with other professional development opportunities for faculty and staff throughout the afternoon. Details on those sessions, which will all be held in Building P, were released to employees in an email from HR Director Lela Frye earlier this week. Employees will also receive the detailed schedule when they check in.
Professional Development Day will wrap up with an ice cream social at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Hall. There will also be an opportunity to win door prizes.
Because most offices across the college will be closed, employees can print out this sign to indicate their office is closed for the day. The college is aware that there will also be employees who will need to work that day (SFPD and other areas across the college) and we thank them for continuing to serve the needs of the college.
