She will hold both a Keynote from 10 -11 a.m. and a Faculty Workshop from 12:30 – 2 p.m. in Building R-001.

Please bring an assignment (a sample GELO assignment from LAS, for example) to the Faculty Workshop. Dr. Jankowski will be leading an assignment-design component where work can be shared while receiving suggestions and feedback.

Keynote: The Possibility and Promise of Assessment

This keynote provides an overview of the current landscape and future directions for assessing student learning by outlining ways in which assessment practice can be infused into teaching and learning. Informed by national surveys and various institutional examples, the role learning outcomes can play in support of student learning through educational and assignment design will be explored, along with how students can be engaged in meaningful assessment processes and practices.

Faculty Workshop: Assignment Design for Student Learning and Success

Assessment can be a tool for enabling teaching, learning, equity, and student success. Yet, faculty, staff, and students are exhausted, over-extended, and sometimes disinterested in assessment-related processes and practices. This workshop will help participants position assessment in the daily work of faculty engaging with students through assignments and assignment design. Tools, tips, resources, and examples will be shared with a focus on student involvement, assignments, communication, policies, and implementation support.
