Santa Fe Remembers, and We Will Never Forget 9-11-01
September 12, 2022
A message from Santa Fe College president:
September 11, 2001, was a tragic and horrendous day, not just for our nation, but the world. We will never forget those who lost their lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, nor those first responders and volunteers who valiantly and tirelessly looked through the rubble, only to have developed their own 911-related illnesses.
Despite the horrors of that day, we also saw incredible, heroic examples of what makes us great – from coworkers helping each other escape the buildings, to volunteers racing to Ground Zero to assist in search efforts, to the donations made to support those in need.
Although we were filled with fear and uncertainty, we stood together as one nation. Through our unity and our resolve, we began the healing process. While we continue to mourn and honor those we lost for their sacrifices, we must remember that the things that unite us are far stronger than our differences.
As we approach the 21 anniversary of 911, we pledge to remember those who were lost, but are dedicated to the notion that by banding together, there is nothing we cannot overcome.
SF will never forget.
