Balance 180 Gymnastics & Sports Academy – Needs Volunteers for 3-week Summer Camp

June 2, 2022

Balance 180 Gymnastics & Sports Academy is a local non-profit organization that focuses on integrating children with and without special needs through sports. This summer, we have two very hands-on learning experiences available for students interested in working with children. We are looking for highly motivated volunteers to participate in our three-week inclusive summer camp or pair up with an athlete enrolled in our Adaptive classes on Saturday's. Below is a brief description of each program and we have also attached a flyer. We would really appreciate it if you help spread the word about these learning opportunities to your students. summercampvolunteers@balance180.org>

Balance 180 summer camp provides a great learning experience for student volunteers. All of our volunteers work 1-1 or 2-1 with the participating campers in various activities, including gymnastics time, crafts, and games. The athletes have a variety of disabilities, including Autism, Down Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, and Cerebral Palsy, among others. The camp will be offered from July 11th to July 29th and will be held Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Volunteers can select the days and hours that they can join us, so that it works for their schedule. Interested volunteers should email Elizabeth at: summercampvolunteers@balance180.org

During our Adaptive Gymnastics Classes, we teach gymnasts with physical or intellectual disabilities foundational skills on the vault, bars, beam, and floor in a step-by-step, individualized process. Our volunteers work one-on-one with the athletes and help each athlete work at their own pace. Volunteers focus on helping the athletes improve motor skills and encourage them to follow instructions and make new friends. No gymnastics experience is required to be a great volunteer. The Adaptive Gymnastics classes will be held on most Saturdays from 12:30-2:00 pm. Interested volunteers should email Rebecca at: AGvolunteers@balance180.org
