Santa Fe College Participates in #GivingTuesday
November 29, 2021
Monday, November 29, 2021- This year Santa Fe College is joining in the #GivingTuesday movement to raise funds and awareness for the SF Achieve program.
Every resident in our district has the opportunity to contribute to the futures of Alachua and Bradford County high school students by donating to the SF Achieve scholarship fund.
A $40M transformational gift from the MacKenzie Scott Foundation helped lay the groundwork for launching SF Achieve, but the future of this program and expanding the college-going culture in our community cannot be accomplished without additional support. Parents and families, educators, community members and local businesses have important roles to play in making the SF Achieve program a success.
The SF Achieve program is designed to provide students mentoring opportunities right inside their high schools – coaching them on career exploration, time management, financial aid and more. That level of mentorship will continue after students enroll at SF, along with a stipend to cover the costs of their textbooks. Eligible students will also qualify for a full-tuition scholarship that picks up where financial aid leaves off, helping to pay for up to 60 credit hours at SF.
If you are unable to give a monetary donation, SF is also asking employees to consider volunteering their time. When the first group of SF Achieve Scholars enroll at SF in the Fall of 2022, each student will be paired with a an SF faculty or staff member who will serve as their mentor while they are at the college.
If you're interested in serving as a mentor and learning more, please fill out this form. Once you complete the form, you will be directed to a landing page where you can sign-up for the virtual Information sessions about the mentorship program. This session will be held via Zoom on November 30 at 1 p.m. https://sfcollege.zoom.us/j/92152523767.
